Bob Eggington has been a journalist for more than 40 years.  He trained on local newspapers and a freelance Press Agency before joining the BBC, where he stayed for almost 30 years.

He held many senior positions, including Head of Political Programmes and Editor of the General News Service.  In his last BBC post he launched and ran BBC News Online.

Since 2000 he has been working as digital consultant and entrepreneur.  His clients have included Reuters, The British Medical Journal, the Wellcome Trust, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and several universities.   He has worked on projects in (the former Soviet Republic of) Georgia, Kenya, Cameroon and Botswana.

He co-founded the TV search and listings service TV Genius.
