A Moldovan NGO is looking for sponsors to fund a media school for young people in the region in order to help future journalists cover cultural, economic and social issues in the area. The aim is to help journalists tackle the issues that are affecting ordinary people in a responsible manner while also building cultural bridges. A Croation journalist says she is giving up her media career following alleged pressure from the Catholic Church. Anna Maria Grunfelder, who is a columnist and theologist, has frequently written about alleged sexual indiscretion involving Catholic clergy in Croatia. Now, following the publication of a feature in Feral Tribune, Grunfelder says clerics have put 'huge pressure' on her and her family. From Croatia, Kruno Kartus reports. |

A new platform for disseminating news and information has appeared in Serbia. It’s unpredictable and intractable and information is immediate. There is no filtering or censoring and issues often left uncovered are now being discussed openly. Membership is growing by the day and, according to Dejan Restak, the man behind the concept, the B92 VIP blog is changing the country’s media landscape forever. |
