Moldova, the poorest country in Eastern Europe, is not only struggling with the social and economic effects of political transition but it is also coping with regional divisions.
By organising an intercultural youth media school with representatives from all communities, as well as young budding journalists from other parts of Europe, we hope to enhance the understanding between the three regions of Moldova, Transnistria and Gagausia. The aim is that responsible, issue-led journalism can succeed where politics has failed. The project would aim to improve relationships and eliminate cultural barriers by bringing together future journalists who will learn about each other’s problems and build transparency and solidarity by improving communications and the flow of information through the media. The Youth Intercultural Media School would be held in Slobozia-Dusca. Young people aged 16-25 who are interested in joining the media school will be invited to submit their CVs and assessed in August. They will be trained in ... - Creating radio spots and social advertisements
- Training to educate intercultural peace makers
- Efficient communication and conflict resolution
- Analysis and decisions trainings
- Organizing cultural programs and contests
- Training for TV producing (Video spots) about European culture diversity and similarities
- Training for reporters: newspaper making and article writing
- Identifying and planning of solving community problems trainings.
After the training participants will be sent out to their local communities to produce reports looking at intercultural and peace issues.
They will return to take part in an event called the International Day of Children and Youth in Mass Media to be held in Chisinau on December 9, 2007. We hope this event will became a tradition in our country and that its continuation will be secured by the funds that will be collected during this event and through grants and sponsors who back us in this.
