Don Ray
Investigative journalist and media consultant Don Ray has donated four of his training modules to Media Helping Media.

They cover how to plan a piece of investigative journalism and how to interview contacts.

Registered users can log on and download tips and tricks, which Don uses in his media work in Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the CIS, Africa and Central America.

I bumped into Don last week as he was racing through the streets of Baku, Azerbaijan with a camera over his shoulder and an Azerbaijani trainee journalist running behind trying to keep up.

“Can’t stop now, we are onto a story and we’ve got to move fast,” he gasped as he pushed through the crowd.

Don specialises in working with journalists in countries where there isn’t a tradition of free media and freedom of expression. These are usually countries where the concept of investigative journalism is discouraged.

Because of that, I thought it would be valuable to have a few of Don’s training modules available to Media Helping Media users.

The first four have just been published in the Training resources section under the heading Investigative journalism. You will need to register (it's free-of-charge), or log on to see the following modules:

If anyone wants to contribute training modules to Media Helping Media, please use the contact us link at the foot of any page.
