This site now has a wiki . It has been added so that registered users of Media Helping Media can work together to create a global training resource aimed at helping anyone involved in building strong, reliable, sustainable and independent media. The wiki will cover all aspects of a media organisation's business, from journalistic ethics, business planning, workflows and newsroom systems to the technology needed to deliver the journalism.
By creating a global wiki we hope to reflect the issues journalists and media managers face in different cultures and societies and, hopefully, learn from one another. We have made a start by uploading a number of existing training modules to the wiki. More will follow. Contributions and suggestions are welcome. Current wiki sections - Journalism: how journalists do their jobs
- Technology: tips about tools, including open-source
- Media management: how to build a sustainable media business
- Media support: organisations and consultants offering training, loans and donations.
If you want to add more, simply register or log on and start a new page.
Editing the wiki
Most articles on the MHM wiki are open for editing. Some are ‘protected’, which means that the authors of the training modules have asked for them to be preserved in the form they were originally contributed.
Registered members of MHM can still comment on the pages using the 'discussion' tab at the top of each page. Alternatively, if you feel strongly about the article and feels you need to put another point of view, please consider starting your own article.
In other cases, contributed modules will be put on the wiki and are available to be edited and improved by any registered member of MHM. In those cases, two links will appear in the introduction to the page. One link will lead to the original version of that article on MHM and the other will link to the author’s website.
All registered members of MHM are able to edit the MHM wiki . Registration for MHM is free of charge. Tips on editing wikis can be found in the MediaWiki help files.
